v Moč mesta, ki navdihuje.
fotografije in načrte.

Uprava
rotterdamskega bienala je povabila Inštitut Berlage, naj bo kustos
letošnjega tretjega mednarodnega arhitekturnega bienala v Rotterdamu.
Po nekaj več kot letu dni intenzivnega iskanja, delavnic z udeleženci
razstav, zbiranja sredstev in izpopolnjevanja odnosov z javnostmi
je bil bienale z naslovom Power – Producing the Contemporary City
odprt 24. maja in bo na ogled vse do 2. septembra v kultnem rotterdamskem
Kunsthalu. Bienale je uradno odprl župan Rotterdama Ivo Opstelten,
priložnostne govore pa so imeli Edi Rama, župan Tirane, Herman
Hertzberger, ustanovitelj Inštituta Berlage, ter Vedran Mimica,
direktor inštituta in glavni kustos bienala. S povabilom Inštituta
Berlage, ustanove namesto enega kustosa (Francine Houben, 2003,
sposobnosti ustanove.
V pričujočem prispevku bomo predstavili samo en vidik bienalskega
dogajanja, in sicer razstavo Visionary Power. Ta razstava morda
najbolje odraža recentno stanje v razvoju Inštituta Berlage in
skozi položaj kustosa, vsaj upamo tako, jasno govori o specifičnih
vrednostih arhitekturnega delovanja prihajajoče generacije arhitektov.

“Inspiring
belief in the Power of the City”
Visionary Power in particular is a treasure room of ideas that
should be a must-visit for the whole ... preferably under inspired
guidance, because of the ... maps, photos, and plans.

The
Board of the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR)
invited the Berlage Institute to curate the 3rd IABR of 2007.
After a little over a year of intensive research, workshops with
exhibitors, fund raising and public relations exercises, the biennale
entitled “Power – Producing the Contemporary City” opened in Rotterdam
Kunsthal on 24 May and will close on 2 September. The opening
speech was delivered by Rotterdam Mayor Ivo Opstelten, followed
by Edi Rama, Mayor of Tirana, Herman Hertzberger, the founder
of Berlage Institute and Vedran Mimica, the Institute’s director
and the Biennale’s head curator.
By inviting an institute instead of an individual curator (such
as Francine Houben in 2003 and Adriaan Geuze in 2005), the Biennale’s
Board seems to have counted on the wide range of urban studies
carried out by the Berlage Institute, on its operative research
network, dominated by the Institute’s former students, and its
organisational and production potential.
This article focuses on a single aspect of the Biennale, that
is, on the exhibition entitled “Visionary Power”. This exhibition
seems to best reflect the current state of development of the
Berlage Institute and hopefully to promote the specific values
of the new generation of architects, with a little help from its
curators.
