Arhitekti renesanse utemeljili su postupke kojih se mi možda nesvjesno držimo: primjerice, između ideje izražene u skicama i narudžbe za zgradu dogodila se scenografija dvorske maskerate, arhitektonske inscenacije i dekoracije za kraljevićev rođendan, vjenčanje vojvodine kćeri, ulazak Pape u grad-državu; ti su događaji korišteni kao prilike za realizaciju novog stila, novu vrstu prostora, novo značenje dekoracije stvorene možda za samo jedan dan... prolazno je konzumiramo s užitkom, stvarajući okus za trajno.
