Općenito govoreći, Schwechat baš ne uživa glas mjesta koje svakako treba posjetiti. Ovaj gradić, koji leži jugoistočno od Beča, poznat je prije svega po međunarodnom aerodromu (VIE) i najvećoj austrijskoj rafineriji; možda se još zna za pivovaru i marku piva Schwechater. U novije znamenitosti može se ubrojiti Specijalna osnovna škola za učenike sa posebnim potrebama, školska zgrada koja ne zaslužuje pažnju samo zbog svojeg arhitektonskog oblikovanja već i zbog svog prototipskog pedagoškog koncepta.

In general, Schwechat is not among the places that one has to visit. This small town, situated south-east of Vienna is known above all for its international airport (VIE) and for Austria’s largest refinery. Perhaps some people might know about its brewery and Schwechater beer. To more recent sights, Schwechat
